A gold mine has been
found in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, India. A ton of gold locks have
been discovered recently in the ground floor of two places, local
administration sources claim.
The breakthrough was
achieved by a joint venture between the Geological Survey of India and the Government
of Uttar Pradesh's Department of Geology and Mines.
According to sources, the
Geological Survey of India team has been searching for gold in the area since
28 years. After a long search and deep research, the presence of gold was found
in the area in 2002.
The Geological Survey
of India team says there is gold in the hills of Sonobhadra. In all, they said
there were thousands of tonnes of gold deposits.
On Thursday, KK Rai, a
mining department official in Sonabhadra district, said that two gold mines
have been found in Sonaphari and Hardi areas of Sonabhadra district. The
uranium reserves are also likely, he said. The search will begin soon.
According to
administrative sources, after confirming the presence of gold mining, the
government plans to lease the two gold mines for mining.
A committee of seven
experts has also been formed to decide on the matter. The committee will
inspect the entire area and report to the Mineral Resources Department
tomorrow.
