Today is the great Martyrs and International Mother Language Day

Today is Friday (February 21), the day of 'Greater February 21, Language Martyrdom Day and International Mother Language Day'. On the occasion of the United Nations, the day will be celebrated in appropriate dignity to commemorate language martyrs all over Bangladesh, including Bangladesh.

The United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) has been celebrating the International Mother Language Day for the past few years since recognizing the International Mother Language Day in honor of the great Ekushey.

The nation will pay homage to the great martyrs of Ekushey through various programs including floral offerings at the central Shaheed Minar altar in Dhaka and discussions at various places.

President Md. Abdul Hamid will present the first floral wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar in the first hour of Ekushey at 12:30 pm. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute to the martyrs' memory soon thereafter. Various political social and cultural organizations have taken detailed programs to celebrate the day.

Today is an unforgettable day in the life of the Bengali nation. The first step in the construction of Bengali nationhood was to break the chain of Pakistani misery and exploitation. Pakistanis want to take away our mouth language 'Bangla' without getting rid of the British colonial chain. Mohammad Ali Jinnah declared, 'Urdu will be Pakistan's only state language'. 

Protests erupted in East Bengal. In protest, the students of Bengal, led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, first staged a protest against the announcement. The whole of East Bengal shook with the slogan 'State language Bangla Chai'.

The streets of Dhaka rang in the blood of countless martyrs including Rafiq, Shafiq, Salam, Barkat, Jabbar. The struggle for establishing the rights of the mother tongue and the establishment of the state language was the struggle of the brave Bengali nation and the glorious chapter of heroism. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had to be imprisoned for playing a leading role in the struggle for state language. The immortal Ekushey in the blood of the martyrs is the day of self-esteem, self-development and self-analysis of the Bengali nation.

By the way of the Bayanar Amar Ekushey, the Bengali nation, under the undisputed leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, got involved in the liberation struggle and the liberation war. Three million martyrs holding the consciousness and patriotism of the brave martyrs of the language movement and in honor of two lakh mothers and sisters were freed in the 1st of our beloved motherland, dear Bangladesh. Red flags are created on the map of the world, an independent state.

This unique case of Bengali sacrifice for mother tongue has been recognized in the international field. UNESCO declared February 21 as International Mother Language Day. Today will celebrate the day with Bengalis all over the world.

People of various classes and professions, including Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party, various political parties, government-private organizations, social voluntary organizations, have announced detailed programs.
